Forum Title: How do I raise the door header?
We have a doublewide modular on a full basement. Modulars being what they are, we have an odd size exterior door. We would like to replace it with a standard 80' steel door. We've opened up the top of the door frame to the ceiling to expose the upper framework. It appears there is a 2x4 header nailed into place between the 2x4 door frame supports. Is that a sufficient header? Can we just take that out and move it up the two inches extra room we need or is that too simplistic an approach? We've hung interior doors before but that's a whole different situation. The doors arrive in about a week so we really need to know what we're doing here! Any advice?

I would be surprised if Marvin will warrant that window. Have them install a new one at their cost. The unit could be fine the way they installed it but I would not take the chance. There should be no charge to you.
