Forum Title: Trying to hang a door

Hi I have just put up a door frame. I left a few mm all side clearance. This is the first door i have put up and i have several more to do. After I hung the door it seemed to fit nice. Now it wont. The hinged side of the door as it closes leaves about a 6mm gap from the frame. I know it should shut tight but i cant work out what i am doing wrong. I have tried moving the hinges out a little incase the hing was getting caught in the door gap. I am probably being stupid but i cant work out what I have done wrong. Ant help would be appreciated thank you

For that price, I think its probably Poly...I don't think they carry thick Lexan. Might differ at your store. The plastic film used to be blue for plex, green for poly and white for Lexan, IIRC.

Sorry i dont have a camera at the moment. No it was not a pre hung door. It is a new door and I have put up a new frame for it. The trouble seems to be as you close the door on the hinge side there is a bout a 5mm plus gap this is stopping the door shut. I have just tried pulling the hinges out a bit. I has not helped. Yes Ihave set the hinges flush into the frame and door. well as flush as i am capable they are sunk in about 1mm. thanks k

When you say you put up a new frame do you mean a new jamb? Check to make sure that you jamb is plumb. If the jamb is not plumb that would cause a gap in one spot or another.
